Picking up Trash for Trails: 2005
Can you believe another Hay Days has come and gone. As always, I had
another fun year as trash master out at Hay Days. Looking back I realize
this would not be possible if it wasn't for so many things. To start,
one great club full of great members who come together for a couple of
days and pull off something that most people say is unbelievable. We
keep the grounds so clean it looks like nothing ever took place. All of
you members that were out there, and helped get things set up, GREAT
JOB!!! I could never thank everybody enough for all you have done. It
really makes a job easy when you have a club like ours. Usually by now
most have forgotten how hot it was, how dirty we got, how sore we were
for the few days that followed that weekend. All we can remember is how
much fun it was and also start looking forward to next year. It is
amazing the transformation that takes place in 4 to 5 days out at the
grounds. From a flat hay field, to a small city, back to a field again,
and NO garbage left at all. When we do make our final sweep on Wednesday
evening, I drive across the grounds and just shake my head. It is hard
to believe any thing took place at all. Then I remember the weekend, the
club, the members, the friends and food, and I say to myself I was glad
to be a part of it. We are already starting to plan a few things new for
next year, and have talked to the Barons about a few changes I would
like to see. I'm sure many of us will relive many moments of the weekend
while we are talking to friends at the fall party, so that's another
great time you shouldn't miss. Once again I would like to say thank you
to each and every one of you that had a part of making this years Hay
Day a success.

One word – SUCCESS. That pretty much sums up our
fundraising efforts this year at HayDays. Scott Johnson (Trashaster
2005) summed it up like this: Thank you to all that gave of their
time and effort to make this a success. People were there on Monday with
makeshift ponchos from garbage bags and kept right on cleaning up thru
the morning rains. There was a short final walkthrough Wednesday evening
just to hit a couple areas that were maybe missed on Monday or garbage
left as the final tents, etc. were taken down. Many hard hours of
planning, preparation went into this by Scott. We all owe him a BIG
THANK YOU. |

The Sno Dragons pick up trash for trails at Hay Days.
The club members empty trash barrels setup all around the Hay Days
grounds, and also pickup trash and cardboard left by vendors and
spectators on the ground. |

Thanks to the generosity of Arctic Cat, the Sno Dragons received 8 new
ATV's this year to use at Hay Days. The ATV's are hooked to utility
trailers, which get loaded up with empty trash barrels and the club
members empty all the full trash barrels and pickup all trash produced
during the weekend event. |

| A special thanks to Scott Johnson who was "Trashmaster" during the 2005
Hays Days weekend. Scott spent countless hours organizing and
coordinating the trash pickup for the Sno Dragons. |

The cooking crew of Rae, Shirley, Patty, Mary and
Sherri showing off the talked about cake. Everyone said who is going to
eat all that cake. On Monday after cleanup there were only 2 pieces left
for the bees. This is on the top of the list for Bonfire Party. Thanks
to all that contributed goodies. Also a BIG THANK YOU to Rae
Kiphuth for heading up the Food Committee.

The Sno Dragons also put a great deal of money back into the sport
where financial assistance is granted to other snowmobile
organizations/clubs who use this money to maintain snowmobile trails and
the sport of snowmobiling. Thanks to all Sno Dragons for there
great turn out and effort this year! |
